 Trou d'Eau Douce

Trou d'Eau Douce is, in our opinion, one of the most typical island villages and well worth visiting. It is as if it deliberately chose to remain that way despite the nearby hotels. Its houses, modest but well kept, are generally hidden behind as many trees and plants as could possibly grow on the tiny surface of the gardens.

It will  not take you very long to settle into the rhythm of life in Trou d’Eau Douce. Translated literally, the name of the village means “sweet water hole”. It is where the river meets the ocean; the fresh water meets the salt water. The spot is actually near the fish landing station also known as Debarcadare. Local women gather there everyday to wash heavy duty clothes.Trou d’Eau Douce has maintained the charm of the old Mauritius. Life is very relaxed there, the people are friendly....

Trou D’Eau Douce a picturesque village on the east coast of Mauritius about 45 minutes drive from the airport, is waiting for you with its beautiful turquoise bay. The village has developed in the past few years mainly by reason of its proximity to Ile aux Cerfs and the well known hotels Touessrok and St. Géran. Ile Aux Cerfs is a large island found on the east coast of Mauritius close to the coastal village of Trou D'Eau Douce in the district of Flacq. It is nearly 100 hectares in area. Ile aux Cerfs is a paradise for water sports and has the most beautiful beach in Mauritius. You cannot afford to miss this tiny island, delicately poised on the ocean.

The most spectacular golf course of Mauritius is probably the "Ile aux Cerfs Golf Course". Ile aux Cerfs Golf Course is on its very own tropical island, fringed by white sands with a backdrop of green mountains - truly one of the world's great golf settings. All 18 holes have views of the ocean. There are nine lakes in all, with a number of holes requiring tee shots across sea inlets to the fairways. Bernard Langer has designed the course to challenge advanced players, while remaining exciting and playable for recreational golfers.

Ile aux Cerfs Golf Course has recently been ranked No. 10 in the top 100 Golf Courses in the World by Golf World magazine.
It is situated on the Ile aux Cerfs islet, just 1 km off the shore of Trou d’Eau Douce, on the East coast of Mauritius. Transfers by speedboat are available every 20 minuites (10 minutes transfer time.)
